A new esports league has launched in the UK specifically for teams to represent their employers while competing head-to-head to win cash for charity.
Afterwork.gg brings working professionals together to game, bond with colleagues and make new industry connections through competitive video gaming all while raising money for charitable causes under the tagline “Corporate gaming for good and for glory!”
Teams from participating organisations will compete in exciting tournaments across FIFA 21 and Call of Duty:Warzone to bring glory to their company.
Winning teams secure a combined prize pool built by all competing companies for their chosen charity.
“Many organisations are considering the impact remote working has on the mental wellbeing of their staff. They’re wondering how to preserve company culture or provide alternative social options in a remote-first world. We’re providing one solution to that.” says Giorgio Cassella, the founder of Afterwork.gg.
Registrations for the first tournament season beginning in May are open and have already attracted teams from agencies across the UK..
For companies lacking the headcount to form a team, Afterwork.gg provides a ‘match-making’ service to support agencies to enter joint-teams via their Discord community. Freelancers are also welcome to take advantage of this.
“Social gaming provides the perfect conduit to vent stress and strengthen professional bonds through positive action” Giorgio adds.
“Players become more confident, developing strong leadership skills and the ability to perform well under pressure; whilst teams become more coordinated and collaborative - essential skills for the virtual battlefield AND for the workplace.”
Forget networking events and industry awards. There's no better way to forge great new relationships and secure the ultimate bragging rights.
