FIFA 21 Rulebook

These rules are subject to change at the administrator’s discretion. If rules should change, all Entrants will be notified accordingly.

The Handbook General Rules apply to all games, please read them first!

  1. Player Eligibility: All players participation in competitions, including FIFA 21, must have access to the game on their registered platform (Xbox One or Playstation 4).
  2. Player Accounts: Only registered entrants playing under their own accounts are eligible to take part. In the event another account is going to be used, the player must make the team aware of the change at the earliest opportunity and failure to do so before a scheduled match begins will result in an automatic 3-0 forfeit.
  3. Rulebook Awareness: tournaments operate under the assumption that each entrant is aware of both the general and game-specific rules and checks them regularly, although significant rule changes will be communicated. A lack of knowledge of the rules will not be used as an excuse for rule-breaking.
  4. Registration: The FIFA 21 registration fee will be £50 per player. This fee will be due after completing registration, payable prior to the tournament start date. Players with unpaid registration fees at the tournament start date will be ineligible to compete.
  5. Game Version: Entrants must have their game up to date with the latest patch for their system before their scheduled match times.
  6. Connections: Players are responsible for their own internet connections and avoiding latency-related issues during tournament games.
  7. Behaviour: Players found breaking rules or who are found to be ‘hacking’ or manipulating the game beyond standard parameters will be penalised, with the penalty being decided upon by staff.
  8. Occurrences Outside Official Rules: reserves the right to make statements and decisions about matters that are not specifically provided for in the rules, in order to maintain fair competition and sportsmanship.
  9. Rule Changes: reserves the right to change the tournament rules at any time, for example, in response to changes in software updates or game releases.
  10. Definitions:
    1. Match: Tournament play between two players that involves two Fixtures
    2. Fixture: A single 12 minute + overtime competition between two players.
    3. Event Day: During Season 1, event days will be Thursday’s at 18:00.

  1. Season Format: There will be two stages: a non-elimination round-robin group stage running from week commencing 3rd May to 24th May, followed by a single-elimination knockout stage on week commencing 31st May.
    1. Group Stage: During the round-robin group stage players will play two Matches against each other player in their group. 3 points will be awarded per fixture to players for a victory, 1 point for a draw and no points for a defeat.
    2. Positions: Group positions will be decided by points, then goal difference, then goals scored, then goals against. In the event that 2 players are still equal final positions shall be decided via a single fixture between the 2 players. The top 2 players in the group will progress to play in the Knockout Stage finals. Players rated 3rd and 4th will progress to play the Knockout Stage to determine the final 3rd winner.
    3. Knockout Stage: During the knockout stage players will play a Best of Three against competitors. In the event of a draw, there will be a new match with Golden Goal. (The first team that scores, wins the match)
  2. Weekly Structure: The schedule will be communicated to players via the Discord in advance of the event day. Matches will be distributed on Mondays for the coming event day in the #match-information channel. Kick-off for the first fixture on each event day will begin at 18:00 GMT. Results are due to be reported by players to within 1 hour of completing a Match using the #match-reporting Discord channel.
  3. Structure Changes: The organiser reserves the right to add or remove players throughout the tournament and when required change the tournament format accordingly. Under these unlikely circumstances, all players will receive ample communication of the changes from

  1. Match Day Protocol:
    1. Both players should have the game client open and be ready to join at the match start time.
    2. Players will be required to check-in via the Discord in the appropriate tournament lobby at least 10 minutes in advance of their first match. Players who do not check in at the latest 5 minutes before play is due to begin risk forfeiting the first fixture of the match.
    3. If fixtures do not start within 15 minutes of their scheduled start time due to a player no-show, the player who did not turn up will be subject to their opponent receiving a 3-0 win.
    4. Both players are responsible for contacting one another and arranging play. Each player and their Gamertag/PSN ID will be posted in the #match-information Discord channel as well as being included with each week’s Match schedule.
    5. The player indicated as the ‘Home’ player will be responsible for creating and starting the match according to the game settings specified in Section 2 below.
    6. If both players are ready, play can start before the scheduled time however additional breaks will not be permitted in-game.
    7. At the conclusion of each fixture players will be given the opportunity to take a 10-minute break and communicate if they need to pause the game for any reason.
    8. Teams should be equipped to communicate outside of the game client during the Match, preferably through Discord private messaging.

    1. Settings: Standard settings
    2. Match duration: 12 minutes (6 minutes per half)
    3. Game speed: Normal
    4. Level: Legendary
  3. Gameplay:
    1. All matches should be played by a “Friendly Match”.
    2. Players are allowed to play with club and country teams but games should only be club v club or country v country.
    3. The player indicated as the ‘Home’ player chooses whether to play with club or country teams.
    4. Only tactical defense is allowed.
    5. Custom formations are not allowed, only the standard formations are eligible for use. If our opponent has a custom formation, take a screenshot and report it to an representative. Your opponent will receive a warning, and you will play a rematch. If a player is reported with a custom formation for a second time, they will be immediately disqualified from the tournament.
    6. Players may change their teams between Matches in the tournament, however they may not be changed between fixtures.
  4. Score Reporting:
    1. Both players are required to take a photo/screenshot of the score. This photo should contain the game score and both players in-game IDs.
    2. Players must report game results within 1 hour of the end of the Match using the #match-reporting Discord channel using the format provided.
    3. When only a single player reports the score, that players submission will be taken as the true result and the player who failed to submit their game score will receive a warning.
    4. When both players report no score, both players will receive a warning. Repeat offence may lead to player disqualification.
    5. When the score of the players does not match there will be an investigation. Once the investigation has been completed the decision about what score is awarded will belong to
    6. Players disputing a match score must have photo evidence for their claims.
    7. If a player deliberately submits an incorrect score, reserves the rights to immediately disqualify that player from the tournament.
    8. Should an representative be unavailable in the event of a dispute being raised, the investigation and decision will be postponed until a representative is available.

  1. When 2 players cannot connect in a private match, they will not receive any game points. The players can try to play the match at a later date by mutual agreement, so long as this is before the next event day and any rescheduled matches should be reporting using the #reschedule-and-forfeit channel. The team will make every effort to ensure there is enough time for the replay, however there may be cases (such as the end of the group stage) where a reschedule of play may not be possible or must be completed within a limited timeframe.
  2. Should EA game servers go down during a match and all the participants of the tournament are kicked from their games, the fixture in progress will be played again.
  3. When the connection is lost mid-game due to technical issues from players equipment, the match will be resumed at the remaining time and the current score.
  4. Should a player refuse or be unable to reconnect and complete the fixture following connection loss, their opponent will be awarded an automatic 3-0 win.
  5. Should an individual disconnect on purpose mid-game they will receive a warning and their opponent will be awarded an automatic 3-0 win.
  6. Should a player disconnect on purpose mid-game on more than one occasion, reserves the rights to immediately disqualify that player from the tournament.
